If you’re searching for a spot that blends great food, a relaxed vibe, and family-friendly fun, look no further than The Natural, located at 3297 Maybank Hwy, Suite 301 on Johns Island. Nestled in one of the newer shopping plazas, this restaurant and sports pub is a local gem that caters to everyone—from sports fans to toddlers.

I recently revisited The Natural with my 2-year-old son on the night of the Women’s College Basketball Championship. My husband and I have enjoyed this place before, but this time it was just me and my little guy—our first official mommy-son dinner date!

As we approached, the sound of the game echoed from the TVs, adding a lively energy to the evening. We had the option to sit inside or outside, and I chose indoors for a quieter experience (and to keep toddler chaos contained!).

The Natural features a full bar menu, and that night they were hosting a beer takeover by Low Tide Brewery—a local favorite. I always love sampling local brews when I’m out, and this was a treat.

Their food menu is packed with variety: appetizers, pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, and hearty entrees. There’s truly something for everyone.

To keep my son entertained, I ordered his meal first—a cheese pizza from the kids’ menu. And wow, it was massive! They definitely don’t skimp on portions here. Whether your child is picky or adventurous, the kids’ menu has plenty of options.

For myself, I started with the Bases Loaded—a creative twist on loaded potato skins topped with their homemade sloppy joe and queso. It was indulgent and delicious.

Then came the Philly cheesesteak sandwich (I chose beef, but chicken is also available), paired with a side of fries—because let’s be honest, fries are the universal backup plan for toddler meals. The Philly was satisfying and hearty, and yes, I left with a couple of to-go boxes!

To wrap up our meal, I treated my son to a small scoop of ice cream. It’s the little things, right? He was thrilled.

One of the best parts for families? The indoor arcade area. It’s perfect for kids to burn off energy while parents enjoy their meals. My son loved pressing all the buttons, and older kids were running around having a blast. Just a heads-up: some tables are out of view of the arcade, so keep an eye on your little escape artists!
