Southern Hospitality Served with Heart (and a Side of Bourbon)
There’s something special about a restaurant that feels like home—and for me, Grace and Grit is exactly that. I’ll admit, I’m a little partial. I know the owners, Frank and Eli Kline, and I’ve even had the pleasure of working with them. But beyond the personal connection, this place truly embodies everything I love about Southern dining: warm hospitality, fresh local seafood, bold flavors, and a family-friendly vibe that makes every visit memorable.
🍽️ Southern Comfort with a Creative Twist
@graceandgrit is all about celebrating the Lowcountry with flair. Their menu is packed with creative and fabulous Southern dishes, and they’ve got an extensively curated Bourbon selection that’s perfect for sipping alongside your meal.
Dinner is served Wednesday through Saturday from 5–9 PM, with a slightly later close at 9:30 PM on Fridays and Saturdays. If you’re new to the menu, do yourself a favor and order the Grit Flight—a sampler of their signature flavored grits that’s as fun as it is delicious. It’s a true taste of Southern innovation.
🌽 My Personal Favorite: Scallops & Succotash
One dish I can’t stop thinking about is the boiled peanut succotash topped with grilled scallops. The depth of flavor is unreal—earthy, nutty, and perfectly balanced with the sweetness of the scallops. It’s a dish that feels both comforting and elevated.
👶 Toddler-Approved & Family-Friendly
Grace and Grit isn’t just a hit with adults—it’s toddler-approved, too! My little man is obsessed with the gouda Mac N Cheese, and their kids menu has plenty of options to keep young diners happy. His current favorite? The Kids Birthday Cake Waffle with fruit—a sweet treat that makes brunch extra special.
Speaking of brunch, they serve it up on Saturdays (9:30 AM–2 PM) and Sundays (9:30 AM–2:30 PM). The variety of entrees is always impressive, and my new go-to is their Quiche, which you’ll find tucked under the appetizers section. It’s light, flavorful, and perfect for a leisurely weekend meal.
🍼 A Thoughtful Touch for Parents
One detail I really appreciate: there’s a changing table in the ladies’ room, which makes dining out with an infant so much easier. It’s a small touch, but it speaks volumes about their commitment to making families feel welcome.
If you’re looking for a place that blends Southern charm, culinary creativity, and a welcoming atmosphere for all ages, Grace and Grit should be at the top of your list. Whether you’re there for dinner, brunch, or just a bourbon and a bite, you’ll leave feeling full—in every sense of the word.
