A Cozy, Farm‑to‑Table Breakfast at The Heyday
My son and I had an impromptu breakfast at The Heyday after dropping one of our dogs off at the vet, and it turned out to be the sweetest little morning. This fairly new, quaint café focuses on farm‑to‑table goodness, and you can truly taste the freshness in every bite. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and their hours vary throughout the week:
Monday, Wednesday & Sunday: 9–3pm
Thursday–Saturday: 9–9pm
Closed Tuesdays
They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, and while the patio would’ve been perfect for my little runner, it was still too chilly, so we cozied up inside.
Coffee First, Always
I ordered a Vanilla Latte—because let’s be honest, I needed it—and a chocolate milk for my little guy. He was thrilled, and that alone set the tone for a great breakfast.
What We Ate
For my meal, I went with the Sausage, Egg, and Pimento Sandwich, but they happened to be out of sausage, so I swapped it for bacon. Honestly, no complaints here. The biscuit was fluffy and soft on the inside—just be warned, it will fall apart if you try to eat it with your hands. And the pepper jelly? It absolutely made the sandwich.
For my son, I ordered the Kids Breakfast, where you can choose 3 out of 5 items—basically three sides. This is such a win for parents because you can pick exactly what your kid will actually eat. I went with cheesy grits, fruit, and bacon, and of course, he loved every bite. Once he finished, he immediately started playing with everything in sight. LOL!
Family‑Friendly Notes
Parents, The Heyday is definitely a great spot to bring the whole family. While there isn’t a traditional changing table in the bathrooms, one of the bathrooms does have a table large enough to make diaper changes doable. Not perfect, but workable.
Add The Heyday to Your List
If you’re looking for a quaint, cozy café with fresh, flavorful food and a relaxed vibe, The Heyday is a wonderful choice for families. We’ll definitely be back—hopefully on a warmer day so my son can enjoy that patio.
