A Taste of Britain in North Charleston: Family-Friendly Fish & Chips at The Cod Father 🇬🇧🍟

If you’ve ever found yourself craving a proper British chippy after a trip across the pond—or just a cozy, satisfying meal close to home—The Cod Father in North Charleston, SC is your answer. My husband and I have been loyal fans for a while now, and their fish and chips never disappoint. This past weekend marked a special milestone: our toddler’s first visit!

🐟 Authentic Flavor, Straight from the UK

The Cod Father’s fish and chips are as authentic as it gets. Owner Adam Randall grew up in a small British town and even worked in a fish and chip shop there, so you know the flavors are the real deal. The fish is perfectly battered and flaky, and the chips (aka thick-cut fries) are golden and crisp—comfort food at its finest.

👶 First-Time Toddler Approved

Bringing our son along added a new layer to the experience. While he was more into the chips than the fish (typical toddler mood-based preferences!), it was heartwarming to see him dig in and enjoy the outing with us. The laid-back vibe made it easy to relax and enjoy our meal as a family.

👨‍👩‍👦 Parent-Friendly Perks

For fellow parents wondering if The Cod Father is kid-friendly—yes, absolutely! They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, which is great for wiggly little ones. While I didn’t spot any high chairs during our visit (we’re past that stage now), they do have a changing table located just outside the bathroom area. That’s a huge win for parents who don’t want to scramble for a plan B.
